MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING

OF THE ORTONVILLE CITY COUNCIL

COUNTY OF BIG STONE, STATE OF MINNESOTA

WEDNESDAY, JULY 25, 2001 5:30 PM

COUNCIL CHAMBERS

CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL:

Upon due public notice, Mayor Ellingson called the special meeting of the Ortonville City Council to order at 5:31 p.m. Roll call was taken and the following were present: Dave Dinnel, Mel Reinke, Mike Dorry, Mary Gustafson, Dan Oakes, Lisa Berkner, David Ellingson and the following were absent: none. City Staff Present: Roman Taffe, David McLaughlin. Media Present: Julie Gruber, Ryan Stattelman. Others Present: Steve Barr, Tom Dorry, Suzy Dinnel, Wally Hallock, Steve Berkner, Mel Ehlert, Orin Haukos, Norman Schultz, Joan Jurgens, John Jurgens, Sheri Cunningham, Margaret Matheson, Pat Hyatt, Lenore Sellin, Ron Kottke, Bob Meyer, Mary Lou Meyer, Elsie Perrine, Virgil Swanson, Robert Pflueger.

BOARD RECOMMENDATIONS:

At 5:33 Council considered the request of Independent School District #62 to rezone the old school bus garage land. Upon recommendation of the Planning Commission Dorry moved and Reinke seconded and the motion passed unanimously adopting the findings of fact as presented and denying the request by ISD #62 to rezone said school bus garage land or to amend the zoning ordinance.

PUBLIC HEARING:

At 5:34 and upon request of the Council, Robert Pflueger opened the public hearing to determine the residency of Mayor Ellingson. Pflueger informed those present of the rules by which the hearing would be conducted. Pflueger asked for all documentary or other media materials to be presented and all as presented were marked as Exhibits and noted for the record, after which any persons present wishing to be heard were allowed to voice their position regarding the topic at hand. When all who wished to be heard had been heard, Pflueger closed the hearing. Ellingson declared the public hearing closed at 6:05 p.m. Dorry moved and Reinke seconded that a resolution be adopted Declaring Vacancy In The Office Of Mayor (RES 01-094). With Berkner, Gustafson, Oakes, Reinke, Dinnel, Dorry, voting in favor and with Ellingson voting against, the motion carried 6-1. Ellingson left the meeting at 6:06 p.m. and Oakes, Mayor Pro Tem, chaired the meeting.

ADJOURNMENT:

There being no further business to come before the Council, Dorry moved and Reinke seconded that the July 25th special meeting of the Ortonville City Council be adjourned. With no objections thereto, Oakes declared the meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
