MINUTES OF THE EMERGENCY MEETING
OF THE ORTONVILLE CITY COUNCIL
COUNTY OF BIG STONE, STATE OF MINNESOTA
THURSDAY, MAY 19, 2005 9:30 A.M.
CITY OFFICE
CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL:
Mayor Dinnel called the emergency
meeting of the Ortonville City Council to order at 9:30 A.M. Roll call
was taken with the following being present: Mel Reinke, Mike Dorry,
Lenore Sellin, with the following absent: Artie Arndt, Dan Oakes, Lisa
Berkner. City Staff Present: Char Grossman. Others present: Dave
McLaughlin, Ken Archer, John De Jong, Brian Mueller. Media present:
Holly Hilbrands.
The purpose of this meeting is to
discuss the necessity of emergency repair to the Dialysis Building and
possible action on recommendations.
Ken Archer, John De Jong and Brian
Mueller informed the council of the water damage in the Dialysis
Building.
RESOLUTION 05-061
RESOLUTION DECLARING SPECIAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, the City of Ortonville is the
owner of the Old Clinic Building; and
WHEREAS, a portion of the Old Clinic
Building is utilized to provide dialysis to residents of the City of
Ortonville and the surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, due to a water leak in the
dialysis unit area, the Old Clinic Building has suffered extensive water
damage; and
WHEREAS, the remediation of the site
requires special services and the walls have been opened up and the sheet
rock has been removed; and
WHEREAS, the remediation is
interfering with the proper care of the dialysis patients and others in
the community as shown by the information supplied at the special meeting.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a
special emergency exists and that immediate action is needed at the Old
Clinic Building to protect the health, safety and welfare of the
community.
Upon roll call vote the following
voted aye: Sellin, Reinke, Dinnel, Dorry the following voted nay: none.
Resolution 05-061 passed this 19th day
of May 2005.
