MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING

OF THE ORTONVILLE CITY COUNCIL

COUNTY OF BIG STONE, STATE OF MINNESOTA

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2006 8:00 A.M.

DIALYSIS BUILDING

 

CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL:

Upon due public notice, Mayor Johnson called the special meeting of the Ortonville City Council to order at 8:00 A.M. Roll call was taken with the following being present:  Mike Dorry, Nick Anderson, Bob Meyer, Artie Arndt, Dan Oakes, John Cunningham with the following absent:  None.  City staff present:  Jason Mork, Curt Hormann, Gary Dinnel, Char Grossman.   Others present: Sheri Cunningham, Dave Dinnel, Julie Kunrath, Dr. Al Ross, Craig Ash.  Media present:  Mike Swenson.

 

Discussion was held as to the plans for future policing of Ortonville.  The following items were discussed: 

24 hour police coverage

            Look into ways of cost saving

            Changes in policing caused by Big Stone II                   

            3 person scheduling of police officers

 

A committee of Bob Meyer, Dan Oakes and Blair Johnson was appointed to look into the options and report to the City Council with recommendations.

 

Mayor Johnson will make an appointment to the Civil Service Commission to fill the vacancy by the next council meeting. 

                                                                       

ADJOURNMENT:

Cunningham moved and Oakes seconded and the motion passed unanimously for the adjournment of the meeting and with no objections thereto, Johnson adjourned the November 13, 2006 meeting of the Ortonville City Council at 8:35 A.M.
