MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING

OF THE ORTONVILLE CITY COUNCIL

COUNTY OF BIG STONE, STATE OF MINNESOTA

MONDAY, MARCH 25 2002 10:00 AM

ORTONVILLE GOLF CLUBHOUSE

CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL:

Mayor Dinnel called the special meeting of the Ortonville City Council to order at 10:00 a.m. and reminded members the purpose of the meeting was to discuss general city topics and issues.  Roll call was taken with the following being present: Mel Reinke, Lisa Berkner, Lenore Sellin, Artie Arndt, David Dinnel, Mike Dorry, and with the following absent: Dan Oakes (arrived 11:43). City Staff Present: Roman Taffe. Media present: none. Others Present: none.

AGENDA:

Dinnel handed out a General Discussion Items paper with a number of items for discussion and he asked if others had items to discuss. The list was updated and council began discussion on the following topics:

Ø      Employee training and continuing education

Ø      Beneficial suggestions program

Ø      Resource sharing with OAHS

Ø      Promoting youth participation in council meetings

Ø      Foot of the lake development

Ø      Extended open forum for citizen participation

Ø      Water Monitor pilot program

Ø      Street & infrastructure projects

Ø      Water softening plant

Ø      Media/publicity opportunities

Ø      City office project

Ø      Budget & discretionary spending

Ø      Codification project

The above listed topics were discussed and no action was taken on any specific topic or project.

ADJOURNMENT:

There being no further business to come before the Council, Dinnel adjourned the March 25, 2002 special meeting of the Ortonville City Council at 4:27 p.m.
