General Information

Free Classes for those committed to enhancing employment
 

Earn 3 College Credits from Minnesota West Community & Technical College
 
Funding will provide CNA instruction for 16 individuals and 2 alternates
 
Classes will begin March 1, 2009
 
Location:  315 Madison Avenue, Ortonville MN

Plan to dedicate five days per week for 6 weeks
 
Times to be determined
 
You must commit to a minimum of 130 hours to receive the certificate
   
Eligibility
Initially determined by literacy level
 
One excused absence is allowed
 
Classes are not available to anyone in the K-12 public school system
 
Priority will be given to individuals enrolled & actively attending ABE classes, individuals working within the WorkForce system, and individuals that have gone through CNA job shadowing is a plus
  Process Information
  Marketing Information (ad) for CNA training is dispersed via newspaper, public access channels, websites, brochures, etc.

  Initial Contact (will generally be through 877-393-6553 which is the Ortonville Community Ed Office/Shawnda Johnson
  Ortonville Community Ed gives info on training, local ABE sites, co-sponsoring nursing homes, Remember the list is created once they get assessed plus gets the person's name for potential clientele list.

  Interested participants will:
  Complete CASAS assessment at local ABE site
  Complete Confidentiality Agreement
  Receive info about pre-class meeting and job shadowing
  Local ABE site sends participants name, CASAS score, confidentiality agreement to Marshall ABE to create the waiting list.

Encourage them to complete a job application at a facility where they would like to work

Encourage them to work on their GED also, if applicable

Job Sharing is conducted
  List of qualified applicants is reviewed by the Planning Group
  Participants Accepted will be contacted
  Pre-class meeting is held for potential participants.  They are given the MN West application and background check.

These forms will be on-line (link below) and could be given to each student assessed at over 230 and collected then.
