Planning & Zoning                        Call before you dig!  1-800-252-1166

The Planning & Zoning Department works with the general public, contractors, developers, other City Departments, and other external governmental bodies to carry out the City's Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinances and other related ordinances.

Planning and Zoning staff review and issue building permits to ensure compliance with local zoning ordinances and federal/state laws and the Uniform Building Code.  Information on variances, conditional use permits and similar building or planning questions can be directed to eda@ortonville.net or by calling 839-3428.

Staff also works with the Economic Development Authority to promote retention and expansion of existing business and attraction of new business.  Towards this end, a JOBZ Zone has been established along our Highway 75 corridor and an identified commitment to preserving the historic downtown as a central business district.
