The Planning &
Zoning Department works with the general public, contractors, developers,
other City Departments, and other external governmental bodies to carry
out the City's Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinances and other related
ordinances.
Planning and
Zoning staff review and issue building permits to ensure compliance with
local zoning ordinances and federal/state laws and the Uniform Building
Code. Information on variances, conditional use permits and similar
building or planning questions can be directed to
eda@ortonville.net or by calling
839-3428.
Staff also
works with the Economic Development Authority to promote retention and
expansion of existing business and attraction of new business.
Towards this end, a JOBZ Zone has been established
along our Highway 75 corridor and an identified commitment to preserving
the historic downtown as a central business district.
