Herberg
updated the group on the current status of the Small Cities Grant. Susan
from DSI has agreed to help with the pre-application on behalf of the
Ortonville EDA / City.
Ideas:
Ø
All things need to be done with out City of Ortonville
funds.
Ex: Mow yards, Trash
pickup, Enforce City Codes (Junk Cars)
Ø
Reroutes Hwy 7 – Herberg is to meet with Anderson in regards
of moving the sign. Nypen has received $35,000 for signage that could
possible be used.
Ø
Road Right Away – Clean up
Ø
Elevator (West Con) Dust Control – Finck will contact and
discuss this with them
Ø
Spray for weeds – City Parks, Sidewalks – Arndt is chair of
the Parks board and will be contacted by Herberg on the issue requesting
to involve 4-H, School groups, Armory
Ø
New trash haulers (Waste Management) – Concerns were raised
as to costs and efficiency. Put out bid requests for 2 year contracts
including 2 times a year City wide clean up.

Curb Appeal – Clean up Cashtown area, Cleanliness, signage
Ø
Consolidated Trash sites for the City
Ø
Identify specific projects that needs attention
Ex: Adopt a Hwy Project
with signage – utilizing Churches and School
Ø
Block Clubs – clean up your block and help a neighbor
